Hannah Malak

Hannah Malak is a PhD student in the Department of Geography at UC Santa Barbara and the current Broom Center lab manager. Hannah is interested in using mixed methods and interdisciplinary approaches to study human-environment interactions, population health, and social inequality. Her research focuses on disparities in environmental exposures, with recent work examining inequities in heat exposure among older adults. By integrating environmental and population data, her dissertation aims to evaluate how schools, prisons, and neighborhood contexts shape heat- and disaster-related morbidity and mortality. Prior to her graduate studies, Hannah received her BA in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Science from UCSB.
